Last match of Pool B of CEV Champions League for MINT Vero Volley Monza. After the setback against the Greeks of Olympiacos Pireaus, Beretta and his teammates return to the field, this time within the home walls of the Opiquad Arena, to face Wednesday 29 January at 6.30 pm (live DAZN and Sky Sport) the Germans of Helios Grizzlys Giesen.
A match that is worth not only victory, but also direct access to the Quarter Finals of the top European competition. With four successes in the previous rounds, Monza leads the group despite having one point less than the Greeks, their direct competitors.
To finish in first place and go through to the next round, the Monza team will only need to win against the Germans. In the first leg, played last December, MINT – orphaned by Erik Rohrs – prevailed away only by tie-break, with Marttila elected MVP of the match.
THE OPPONENTS
Like the team led by coach Eccheli, the Germans are also participating for the first time in the top European club competition. They are the seventh team from Germany that manages to take part in a CEV Champions League season; of the previous six teams, only TSV Haching Munchen managed to get through the group stage on their debut in the competition, in the 2010/2011 season. At the moment the “Grizzlys” occupy the last place in the group with 4 points.
