Allianz Milano’s adventure in the Play Off phase of the CEV Champions League begins on an uphill climb: Roberto Piazza’s team, playing in Italy yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 12 February, in Turkey against Halkbank Ankara, was unable to follow up on the victory in the first set, ending up losing 3-1 against the home team, with the fourth set ending at 33-31 for the home team after Milan had led the set for large stretches. With Porro not at his best, Milan tried to withstand the home team’s blow: Reggers, the only Milanese player in double figures, ended his match with 19 points scored, while on the other side of the net Kooy and Sotola scored 23 points each, enriched by Leal’s 13. In two weeks, at the e-work Arena in Busto Arsizio, the return match: Milan will have to drag the match to the Golden Set to win the passage to the next round. First, however, the commitments in SuperLega Credem Banca: Allianz Milano, on Sunday 16 February, at 6.00 pm, will be on stage in Perugia against Sir Susa Vim, in the match valid for the 10th return day of the championship.
