Away victory for Allianz Milano, which confirms its good form – fresh from the three-set victory against Verona, in the SuperLega – and wins 3-0 against Knack Roeselare, a Belgian team, on the 5th day of the Group stage of the CEV Champions League. The star of the evening was nineteen-year-old Tommaso Barotto who, on his debut as a starter in the competition, was able to sign a performance that earned him the title of MVP of the evening, with 18 points scored in the three sets. A victory that guarantees passage to the round in Milan with one match to spare, with the Milanese team playing for a possible direct arrival to the Quarter Finals (without going through the Play Offs) in the last match. Over the weekend the championship match against Piacenza for Roberto Piazza’s men.

The team from Brianza, after four consecutive victories in the competition, is forced to surrender to Olympiakos in what – on the eve of – presented itself as a real challenge to the top. 3-1 defeat for Beretta and his teammates, who after the first two sets played point to point and led by Monza, were able to take home the third set, but were unable to repeat themselves in the fourth set. Among the most positive performances in terms of scoring were those of Marttila and Rohrs (16 points for both) but also of the debutant Frascio, product of the Consortium’s youth sector and scorer of 11 points. After the European efforts, Monza dives back into the championship: a decisive clash in the hot zones of the standings against Taranto, scheduled for Sunday.

After the first defeat of the season in the championship, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia smiles again and, playing in the Czech Republic against Budejovice, did not leave even a set to his opponents. Solid performance from Angelo Lorenzetti’s team who, without Plotnytskyi, relies on Semeniuk and Ishikawa, authors of 12 and 15 points respectively. Also in double figures were Herrera, with 12 points, and Loser, who closed on 10. With this success Perugia mathematically conquers first position in Pool D, ensuring direct passage to the Quarter Finals. For the Umbrian team the SuperLega weekend features a trip to Civitanova against Lube.
