After coming out with their heads held high with the other three direct contenders for the top four places in the standings, CUS Cagliari arrives in Valenza, sixth in the standings. Negrini CTE Acqui Terme comes from a defeat in the tie break in San Donà with a great recovery of two sets, preceded by the full victory against Mantova and the fifth set against Belluno. The Sardinian team also returned from a similar result, recovering a two-set deficit at home against Mantua who, only in the photo finish, prevailed.
Despite the nine-point lead in the standings, it will still be a tough match for the Acqui team against an opponent who had the upper hand in the first leg.
Coach Michele Totire comments:
“There are nine points at stake for anyone: there are those who are fighting, like us, for the highest possible position in the standings and those who, instead, are fighting for survival. The difference, more than technique and tactics, is made by desire and attitude. We haven’t lost yet at home and Cagliari, like all those who will come, will do everything to earn the title of who will beat us. With us they all give their best in all the fundamentals. We are proving that we are there but we need to start well and always better than we have done up to now. We must guarantee ourselves access to the playoffs in the top four. In sport the result you get is what you deserve.”
