It returned last season after a four-year absence, and this season it confirms itself as a point of reference for the entire Italian youth sector. We are talking about the DelMonte® Boy League, the special championship reserved for Under 14 teams (boys born in 2011 and 2012) of the clubs that participate in the championships organized by Lega Pallavolo Serie A. If last year the preliminary round was played for the first time in history at the PalaFrancescucci, this year the boys from Campi Reali Cantù, MA Acqua S. Bernardo Cuneo, the reigning champions Gamma Chimica Brugherio and Monge Gerbaudo Savigliano will be on stage at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Busca (CN). As happened 12 months ago, they will play a round-robin with one-way matches. The first-place team in each group and the three best second-place teams, classified based on the tie-break, are qualified for the Final Eight. The first kick-off is scheduled for Sunday, March 23, 2025, starting at 9:00 a.m.
“This is the second year we have participated in this championship,” says the Technical Director of the Youth Sector Alessio Zingoni. “Last year we played at home and it was a great experience for us. This year we have exactly the same opponents, and even if it will be complicated, it is an extremely valid technical experience for our boys. We will participate with 14 boys who have completely grown up in our youth sector, so there will be no boys on external loan, and for them it will certainly be an important opportunity for both technical and human growth.”
