A match to remember, a feat that will remain in the history of Domotek Volley Reggio Calabria. After the comeback victory against Lecce, team manager Mirko Crucitti commented with enthusiasm and pride on a match defined as “epic”, the most exciting and heartfelt of the year.
“It was the craziest and most out of control match of the season. Down 2-0 against a great team like Lecce, it wasn’t easy to recover, let alone overturn the result. The boys showed incredible courage.”
Crucitti underlined how this victory is the result of extraordinary teamwork. “If they had told me in September that we would play the playoffs with three-sevenths of the non-starters of the time, not only would I not have believed we could reach the playoffs, but much less win the quarterfinals. This is proof that we have built a great group, a great team. It was a fantastic day.”
The team manager admitted that he did not believe in the victory until the last moment. “I did not understand that we could overturn the result until the last point fell. Lecce is a team with important elements: a great setter, a great opposite, high-level wings and a libero who today defended the impossible. We know Paolo Cappio well, who played in Calabria, he is a great player. With all the video checks and borderline situations, I did not believe it until it was actually over.”
