It was January 26, 2022: a phase still marked by Covid and characterized by restrictions and masks. That day, or rather, that evening, the then Da Rold Logistics Belluno played its first and so far only Serie A3 Italian Cup match: in Pineto, against Abba. The hosts from Abruzzo prevailed in the space of three sets in the round of 16 match.
Almost three years have passed since then: more precisely, 154 weeks. Translated into days, 1078. And Belluno Volley is ready to return to the competition parallel to the championship: after having secured qualification, the results of a second place obtained in the regular season at the end of the first round, the rhinos will be protagonists of the valid challenge for the quarter-finals: Wednesday 8 January (8.30 pm), at the VHV Arena, against Negrini CTE Acqui Terme. This too will be a single round, without the return parachute. Whoever wins goes directly to the semi-finals, whoever loses farewells.
2025 therefore opens with a high-profile match. And with considerable stakes. Match that Marco Marzola’s group will be able to afford to play in front of a friendly public: a significant advantage, if it is true that, as always, the VHV Arena public represents the seventh element on the pitch.
The winner of the match scheduled at the Lambioi facility will face one between Romeo Sorrento and JV Gioia del Colle: when? On January 22nd or, if one of the qualified clubs decides to organize the Final Four, on February 22nd.
