Sunday’s defeat and Savigliano’s simultaneous victory over last-place Brugherio have outlined a ranking that is starting to be critical for The Begin Volley An. Monge Gerbaudo is 6 points behind the Dorians and is 2 points behind the Sardinian teams who, both at 20 points, occupy sixth and seventh position. The next two rounds of the regular season will be decisive for the Dorians: against Brugherio and Savigliano they need points, possibly all those up for grabs, to try to avoid the play-out roulette.
Center back Matteo Sacco is aware of this: “We must look at the match against Brugherio with positivity and aggressiveness since the chances for the seasonal goal are starting to become scarce. Against Belluno things didn’t go right; they started aggressive straight away, while it took us longer to get into the game. After an excellent third set played well and won, we were unable to take advantage of the opponent’s moment of difficulty, we allowed Belluno to get back into the match while we fell behind.”
