The Challenge Cup Semi-finals opened in the best possible way for Cucine Lube Civitanova which, in the first leg match against SK Ankara, reaffirmed the inviolability of its stadium by winning 3-0 in front of the home crowd. Giampaolo Medei’s team will need to win two sets in the return match to avoid the Golden Set and thus reach the Final. The MVP award in the first match against the Turkish team was won by Loeppky, who closed his match with 17 points scored, top scorer together with his opposite opponent Edgar. Lagumdzija (13 points) and Bottolo (10 points) also scored in double figures. The return match is scheduled for Tuesday 15 February, at the home of SK Ankara: a match that will feature the first finalist. The other Semi-final so far has given Bogdanka LUK Dublin a 3-0 win against Sporting CP Lisboa, with the Poles ahead of their Portuguese rivals ahead of the return match. For Civitanova, however, first there will be the championship match: on Sunday 16 February, at 8.30 pm with live broadcast on Rai Sport, Lube hosts Gioiella Prisma Taranto for the 9th return day of the SuperLega Credem Banca.
