Mid-August between weight room and taraflex for president Gino Sirci’s boys who didn’t stop even yesterday and continue their preparation today with the usual double sessions: in the morning muscle work under the supervision of the athletic trainer Sebastian Carotti and group work with the ball and, in the afternoon, training session on the taraflex, under the guidance of Angelo Lorenzetti with his assistant, Massimiliano Giaccardi, assisted by the Perugia technical staff.

A new face has been working with the group since day one in Sir Susa Vim Perugia, but not in the Super League championship (nor in Umbria): the setter Francesco Zoppellari, fresh from three consecutive seasons (after the 2016-2017 season) in Padua, his city.

«Without a doubt it is a source of great pride to receive a call from a company like Sir! It fills you with pride and repays all the work done in these now nine years of professional career. It’s a call that you couldn’t say no to: let’s say that I’m fulfilling a dream of being in this team to compete and win as many things as possible in this great group of champions trained by such a high-level staff.”

Francesco Zoppellari, born in 1997, made his debut in the world of professional volleyball in the 2015/2016 season with Club Italia and then landed in the Super League the following year with Kioene Padova. His professional path had already passed through Umbria, when, in the 2018/2019 season, he played for Monini Spoleto in A2.

From 2021 the return to Padua, until last year: the Perugian arena is therefore not new for the Venetian director, but now for the first time he will not experience it as an opponent.

«In these three seasons we have had the opportunity to meet Sir several times: they have always been very difficult matches. It was also easy to leave my hometown because Perugia is a club you can’t say no to; I am at the complete disposal of the group and the company to help and achieve our objectives.”
