“It all started before, the first line of the first page of each story refers to something that has already happened outside the book.” This passage from Italo Calvino is particularly significant to describe the new beginning of the Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, which on Thursday 1st August will officially kick off its first, historic, season in the Super League. And it is to the extent that in this beginning, far from coincidentally coinciding with the number one of the month, it actually represents a wonderful consequence of something that, in reality, has already begun some time ago, with passion, effort but also healthy programming.

In short, Grottazzolina does not find himself in the Super League by chance, and despite the thousand difficulties of those who, as a child, find themselves catapulted into a land of giants, with enthusiasm and curiosity he wants to understand, more than anything else, whether in this context he is capable of stay there, and if that land can become his land.

In the meantime, however, there is only one way to begin the preface of this new book, and that is to do it as it has always been done in the past, without distorting itself and without losing the culture of tradition: gathering at the Grottazzolina sports hall and greeting the team by the company management, the technical staff and the authorities present. A few words which, however, will serve to outline the main path. Then, as is now tradition in the M&G Volleyball School, we will sit around a set table for an initial intimate moment, as is done in the large extended families from which each of us, in this splendid Marche hinterland, draws our origins. Regardless of the category and the coat of arms, therefore, to return to the opening step, everything has already begun before.

The boys involved with their respective national teams are justifiably absent, in view of the gathering the new faces are already planning their arrival in the Marche, while the veterans from the promotion feat – namely Captain Vecchi, Cubito, Fedrizzi, Marchiani, Marchisio and Mattei – they are already in place and last weekend those who were present at the grand finale of the Beach Volley Young Academy were able to enjoy them in their costumes, already polished in view of the season that is about to begin. The Canadian central defender Demyanenko, busy at the Paris Olympic Games, the opposite Cvanciger struggling with the qualifiers for the next European championships with his Croatia, the hammer Tatarov still busy with the Bulgarian national team under the orders of coach Blengini, will not be there.

Curtain up, therefore, the Yuasa Battery season is officially starting.
