Gioiella Prisma Taranto Volley is preparing to welcome a new international athlete, the Belgian Wout D’Heer. Originally from Dendermonde, Belgium, born on April 26, 2001, 202 cm tall, D’Heer is a talented middle blocker with a promising future in the world of volleyball.
His career is a crescendo of successes and achievements. After starting in the youth ranks of JTV Brigand in 2012 and then moving to Vilvoorde in 2015, D’Heer made his Belgian Liga A debut with VDK Gent in the 2019-20 season. He subsequently continued to distinguish himself by wearing the Aalst shirt.
His talent crossed the borders of Belgium when, in the 2020-21 season, he made the big leap to Italy, signing with Trentino Volley. With Trento he won the Italian Super Cup in 2021, the Scudetto in 2022-23 and, the culmination of his young career, the recent Champions League.
Even at the international level, D’Heer has made her mark. He represented Belgium in the national youth teams, winning several medals, including gold at the WEVZA Under-19 championship in 2019 and the title of Best Central defender at the European Under-20 Championship in 2020, now central defender of the senior national team.
With his mix of talent, dedication and ambition, Wout D’Heer is preparing to bring his contribution to Gioiella Prisma Taranto Volley, ready to be increasingly competitive on the Super League stage thanks to his precious contribution.

“After 3 wonderful years in Trento, it was time for me to get involved with more continuity. Taranto is a team that has found its space in the Super League for a few years now and I consider it a good opportunity for me to demonstrate what I can do a little more on the pitch.
Our championship is the most difficult in the world. So in my opinion it will be a season where every ball will be important for us. But the basics are there. It will be up to us players to give everything we have in our bodies, both physically and in terms of mental energy.”
