Week 1 of the Volleyball Nations League 2024 ended with a streak of four consecutive victories, which saw the Italian national team led by Ferdinando De Giorgi, engaged in this first phase in Brazil, get the better of Germany, Iran, Japan and finally, the hosts Brazil, with the success of Giannelli and his teammates over the green and gold team 3-2.
By virtue of these results (11 points won, three sets lost), the Azzurri manage to maintain second position in the international ranking with 361.86 points. So far, only Poland has done better, but compared to the Italian national team it has already qualified for the Paris Olympics. Italy will try to secure its pass to the Olympic Games during the other weeks of the VNL: in Week 2, which will take place in Ottawa, Canada, the Azzurri will face France, the United States, Cuba and finally the Netherlands.
