Having archived the commitment in the Del Monte Coppa Italia, Rana Verona has already turned his gaze to the next SuperLega commitment in Modena, the first of 2024 and the second of this second round. At IlT Quotidiano Arena Stoytchev’s team had to deal with a healthy and almost flawless opponent in the various phases of the game, but in the second part of the match they improved and played almost on par with the reigning Italian Champions, not however managing to reopen the result.
If the offensive department struggled to break down the opponents’ wall and defense, the Scala team held up in reception. In fact, both Dzavoronok and Mozic ended the match with almost 70% positivity in this fundamental, while libero D’Amico reached 58%, also being the protagonist of some complicated saves in defense. In attack, the Czech spiker – former player of the day acclaimed by his old fans and rewarded by the local club in the pre-match – was the best scorer of the team with 10 points scored, of which 2 from nine metres, thus confirming the good performance that is offering in line. In the centre, Mosca did well, capable of putting 7 balls on the ground (1 block) for 75% in the net, and Zingel (6 points and 1 block). Two, however, were Amin’s monster blocks, later replaced by Keita, who ended up on the scoresheet eight times.
“Our biggest problem was the counterattack – underlined Coach Stoytchev at the end of the Adige derby of the Italian Cup – We had a negative efficiency percentage and in this phase we lost a lot of points. We weren’t able to finish and consequently get into the series. We started playing better from the second half of the second set and in the third we were point for point. Now we have to start again working with the right head. We must not take this match as an example, but the previous ones to get to the next match in the best possible way.”
