There are just two weeks left until the preparation for Emma Villas Siena begins. A new sporting season will therefore begin, after in the last one the white and blue team reached the playoff final, then lost against Grottazzolina. The Sienese will gather in exactly two weeks, on Tuesday 20 August: and they will do so in Cascia, Umbria, for an unusual first part of preparation far from the friendly walls of Siena.
The first week of training for Emma Villas Siena in view of the new championship will therefore be carried out and experienced in Umbria, before returning to Siena in the second week. With the preparation the work of the new group will begin which will still be led by coach Gianluca Graziosi. The goal is set for October 6, when the championship will start. That day the Sienese team will face Evolution Green Aversa at home.
It will be a largely renewed team that will meet on August 20th. There will be some already well-known faces, such as libero Federico Bonami, who will experience his third season in the blue and white jersey. There will be the setter Thomas Nevot, the central defender Stefano Trillini, the libero Martin Coser and the spiker Federico Pellegrini. And there will be many new faces, in what promises to be an absolutely interesting season and with a championship of a high technical level, as always happens in Italy. The value of our local volleyball is confirmed by the Olympics underway in Paris, with many protagonists of Serie A who are showing excellent things on the taraflex. And by the way, compliments must also be paid to some former Emma Villas Siena players who are making their mark in the five-ring Parisian edition. Yuri Romanò has just reached the Olympic semi-final (and the Emma Villas Siena physiotherapist, Francesco Alfatti, is also present on the staff of the Italian national team) and he did so by defeating the Japan of the other former Sienese player Yuki Ishikawa.
The blue shirt has in the past been worn, among others, by Gabriele Nelli and Luigi Randazzo, two of Siena’s reinforcements in the last volleyball transfer market. These are two certainly “heavy” names for the A2 series, two players with experience and quality who give even more value to the roster set up. As well as Andrea Rossi, a central defender who played in the Super League for many years and who chose to return to wearing the Siena shirt. There will be fun to be had in another year which certainly promises to be very interesting and with many teams eager to have a great season and who will try to gain promotion to the Super League.
