First leg: Trentino Itas – Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-1 (25-17, 16-25, 25-18, 25-23)
Trentino Itas qualifies for the CEV Champions League Finals, where on the weekend of 4 and 5 May they will face a single match against Jastrzebski Wegiel, a Polish team that got the better of Ziraat Bank Ankara in the other Semi-final. Nothing to do for Cucine Lube Civitanova, who are unable to overturn the 3-1 they suffered in the first leg despite the push of the almost 4000 spectators at the Eurosuole Forum, sold out for the Italian-coloured semi-final.
The team coached by Fabio Soli withstood the brunt of the comeback suffered in the hard-fought first set (26-24 for the hosts), making a loud statement in the second (20-25), then also winning the third and decisive set (22- 25) despite numerous attempts by the people of the Marche region to reopen the race. The second lines were on the field in the last two periods (25-18 and 15-9 in favor of Lube).
On the Civitanova front Nikolov finishes as top scorer (19 points). Lagumdzija (15) and Anzani (11) also scored in double figures. Michieletto finished as MVP with 14 points (68% positivity in attack and great work on serve). Lavia also scored double figures for Trento in the first three sets.
The next commitment in SuperLega Credem Banca will be immediate as regards Cucine Lube: the Marche players will be on stage on Sunday afternoon in Monza for Game 4 of the Quarter Finals, with first serve at 6.00 pm (live VBTV). Itas, however, will have to wait another ten days to return to the field, with Podrascanin and his teammates playing Game 1 of the Semi-finals, scheduled for March 31st with a date and time yet to be confirmed, against the winner of the series between Civitanova and Monza .
