Two days until the return to the pitch for coach Lorenzetti’s men awaiting the away match in Emilia on Saturday afternoon at the PalaPanini against Valsa Group Modena.
“We face the first away match of the year on one of the most difficult pitches in the Super League,” says libero Massimo Colaci. “Playing against Modena is always complicated, precedents count for little, what matters is taking the field at PalaPanini with the attitude and attention we had in the last few games. We are aware of the difficulties of the match and the great quality of Modena’s players, starting from Bruno and my friend Juantorena up to all the others. At the same time we are aware that, if we put the right aggressiveness and our best game on the Taraflex, we can fight well to try to bring important points for the ranking to Perugia”.
Last training sessions at Pian di Massiano for the Block Devils who, after today’s double session, will train tomorrow morning at PalaBarton before leaving in the early afternoon towards Modena.
The opponents of the Bianconeri are Valsa Group Modena, fresh from the regenerating victory obtained last Sunday in Monza and determined in front of their fans to “avenge”, sportingly speaking, the two seasonal defeats suffered in the two previous matches of the first leg and the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup. The Valsa Group, the only team to have so far beaten the record holder of the Super League Trento in the championship, is currently sailing in eighth place with a good margin on the ninth (Cisterna) and with the sixth and seventh, Monza and Verona respectively, only two distant and a point.
It will be a very tough away match for the Block Devils because Modena is always Modena, that is, a historic club, a historic square, a competent and passionate audience, a top-ranking team that combines experience and youth, technical qualities and athletic skills. Leading the ship are Bruno, Stankovic and Juantorena, internationally renowned players with extraordinary careers. Then there are the various Sapozhkov, Rinaldi, Davyskiba, Sanguinetti, Brehme and Federici, boys on the launching pad, who make up a crew with enormous potential and offer coach Petrella many different tactical solutions to be used even during the race in progress. Watch out for Davyskiba and his lightning-fast serve, watch out for Sapozhkov who is attacking in the championship, from the height of his 220 cm, with 54% efficiency, watch out for Sanguinetti, very high first halves and a jumping serve (16 aces) second only to Simon in the role, watch out for Rinaldi, the home gem, very good at turning dirty balls into gold.
