In France, winner of the VNL 2024 Finals, there is also Theo Faure, protagonist in the splendid journey undertaken by coach Giani’s team in view of the Olympics. This is Faure’s second medal wearing the national team jersey, after being part of the group participating in the 2021 VNL in Rimini, which finished in third place, taking bronze behind Brazil and Poland. This year the transalpine opposite scored 120 points during the annual world championship competition organized by the Fivb, making an important contribution to the final victory, the second for France after having already won the trophy in 2022 in Bologna. Preferred to Patry in the semi-final against Poland, the athlete native of Pessac stood out during the five sets that then gave France the pass to the final, with 20 points on the scoresheet with 44% efficiency in attack.
“These Final Eight gave me incredible emotions – says Theo Faure, who will wear the shirt of the Pontine club again in the next two seasons – All the matches were difficult because each one was different from the other. Playing to reach such a prestigious goal is in the desires of every player. I’m lucky enough to be in a group where anyone can join and do well, there is healthy competition and whoever takes over has the duty to give a new boost to the team. The important thing is to respond presently when needed. Italy played very well, despite featuring a slightly younger roster. Against Poland the atmosphere was beautiful. Competing in a stadium with 13,000 spectators against the home team gives you energy. Winning the semi-final at Tie Break was fantastic, then winning the final was an incredible moment. Personally, it is the first trophy I have won with the national team, after having participated in the VNL in the past without ever taking part in the finals, they were memorable moments.”
