At the Paris Games there was also a bit of Cisterna Volley, present at the event with Aleksandar Nedeljkovic (Serbia) and Theo Faure (France), both protagonists already in the last season with our colours. The men’s volleyball competition ended with France winning gold in three sets against Poland, completing a journey that saw the French team lose only to Slovenia in the group stage. In the roster available to coach Giani there is also Theo Faure, protagonist on the pitch against Germany with 11 points.

“The Olympics was an incredible experience – says Theo Faure, top scorer of the 23/24 Super League season – Starting from the organisation, from everything that surrounded us up to the first matches. For us home athletes, the atmosphere we breathed had a particular flavour. As a team we knew that from the beginning it would be a tough journey, the level was very high, I think that many teams had the quality to go and compete for a medal. With the successes against Serbia and Canada we obtained qualification, then from the quarter-finals a new competition began. There was a lot of pressure around us but the atmosphere we breathed in everyday life was fantastic. There was trust between us, we helped each other. I felt it when I entered the quarter-finals, feeling the support of my teammates.”

For Faure, who renewed with Cisterna Volley until 2026, it was the first Olympics, after his time with the national team in VNL. A call-up resulting from a season as a protagonist in the Super League with the Cisterna Volley shirt, where the opposite team scored 420 points in the 22 games played.

“After the victory it is difficult to describe in words the emotions you felt – continues Faure – from when you got on the podium to the following days. At the moment of the award ceremony, with the national anthem playing in the background, all my family and friends were there. Sharing this moment with them was beautiful and intense. There have been no shortage of commitments these days, I think I still have to fully realize what I’ve done. The past season with Cisterna Volley in the Super League gave me a lot, I played many matches at a very high level and this prepared me for a competition like the Olympics.

With a gold medal around his neck that fills the entire Cisterna Volleyball team with pride, Faure’s second season in the Super League will begin: “Now I’m ready to return to Cisterna, I’ll meet up with many teammates from last season and some new faces. I return with more experience in my baggage with the desire to play even better next season.”
