First test of the new Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina. Saturday 31 August, at 5pm, joint training with Lube Volley at the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova Marche (free entry). It will be the first of three shared technical sessions: the second is scheduled for September 6th, the third for September 11th. The championship now upon us will see the two clubs together for the first time in the Super League (first historic derby in the top division on 8 December). “We are growing – says coach Massimiliano Ortenzi – we have now completed the fourth week of work and the joint training with Lube will allow us to make some evaluations, despite considering this phase very intense from a workload point of view”. Yuasa will be without opposite number Petkovic, who is benefiting from a short personal leave and has returned to Serbia, and captain Vecchi, stuck in the infirmary. Ortenzi will instead have the two new arrivals Demyanenko and Cvanciger at his disposal: they have very few training sessions under their belt, they will most likely be used sparingly.

Numerous exes. Yuasa’s roster includes three former red and whites, namely libero Andrea Marchisio, who in his five-year stay, between 2017/18 and 2021/22, won numerous titles in Civitanova, then the Croatian setter Tsimafei Zhukouski, at Lube in 2017/18, and the setter Manuele Marchiani, cook in 2006/07 and 2010/11.

On the Lube bench, as second coach, there will be the confirmed Romano Giannini, who in the two-year period 2002/03 and 2003/04 held the position of assistant coach of Grottazzolina in Serie A2, and then became head coach of the team in course of work in the second of the two contract seasons.
