Taranto ready for the challenge against Perugia: battle at PalaMazzola against the big names of the Super League
After a hard-fought match against Monza, in which Gioiella Prisma gained a precious point in comeback, President Bongiovanni’s Taranto, led by Dante Boninfante, is preparing to face one of the most challenging matches of the season. On Sunday at 7pm, at the PalaMazzola, the Apulians will host the Italian champions and champions of “everything” Sir Susa Perugia, fresh from a tie break victory against Lube.
Perugia presents itself in Taranto with a team full of talent and accustomed to the most prestigious stages: reigning champion of the Super League, winner of the Scudetto, the Italian Cup and the Super Cup. Led by the champion Yuki Ishikawa, author of 21 points in the recent victory against Lube, the Perugians show off a powerful and varied attack with Plotnytskyi (13 points), Russo (10 points) and the irreplaceable libero Colaci guaranteeing security in defence, with the opposite Ben Tarasugli shields. The return of Simone Giannelli as setter was also fundamental, back on the pitch after two rounds of absence (replaced by the excellent Zoppellari) and immediately decisive in directing the team.
Taranto, for its part, arrives at this event with enthusiasm and a good dose of confidence, thanks to the spirited performance against Monza. Under the guidance of Boninfante, the Apulians worked intensely to prepare for this match against Perugia, aware of the very high level of their opponents but ready to play for every point on the Palamazzola parquet.
