With the roster completed, the Ionian management composed of General Director Vito Primavera and Sports Director Mirko Corsano, both confirmed without delay after years of experience on the Ionian shores (returned to Taranto in 2021, with Vito Primavera who transferred the A2 title from Materdomini in Taranto, after the previous cycle in rossoblù which lasted 10 years, and Corsano who interrupted work only for a one-year break in the 2022-23 season), says she is satisfied with the squad set up, and begins to lay the foundations for the next season , scheduling the official rally date for August 5th.

The team is made up as follows: in the role of setters the expert Jan Zimmermann and the young emerging Portuguese Diogo Fevereiro, on the opposite diagonal the national and former rossoblù Fabrizio Gironi with one of the top scorers of A2, the Molise Andrea Santangelo; the battery of spikers sees the expert Filippo Lanza with the Canadian Brodie Hofer, the young Tim Held and the Apulian Luca Paglialunga, in the center the Belgian ex Trento Wout D’Heer with the Cuban Roamy Alonso, captain Aimone Alletti and the emerging player from Taranto Cosimo Balestra, in the role of libero the feisty Salento native Marco Rizzo with the very young Tarantino Davide Luzzi who has now been with the rossoblù for a year.

The team is managed by the new technical staff made up of coach Dante Boninfante with second Samuele Papi, with assistant coach Danilo Paglialunga, scoutman Matteo Pastore and physical trainer Pascal Sabato.

Everything is therefore ready to face the 2024-25 season, all that is missing is the official calendar that will be available in July during the volleyball market, with the definition of the starting date of the Super League championship after the Olympic summer, which will see the protagonists also some of the team members who will form the new Ionian team.

Director Corsano expresses his opinion on the planning and potential of the team set up:

“The team that has been set up is in line with what was the common idea, that is, of a group of players who, for one reason or another, want to demonstrate that they are worthy of the Super League championship and that they are happy to be part of Gioiella Prisma Taranto. What I expect, together with the club, is that it will be a very difficult tournament and that we must all be ready to face it with a sense of belonging, willpower, trust and pride. We will start working on August 5th with the usual routine of medical visits and gradual physical and technical work.”
