The 2024-25 season of Virtus Volley Fano has officially begun.
After meeting at the PalaVigilar and the classic welcome greetings with delivery of the material, the group led by coach Vincenzo Mastrangelo and his collaborators Michael Angeletti, Simone Roscini (technical part) and Mattia Rossi (physical part) began working in the gym with physical sessions in the morning and technical sessions in the afternoon.
One of the most anticipated athletes is the central Stefano Mengozzi, coming from Ravenna, who presents himself in Fano with an incredible curriculum behind him: in addition to Ravenna we remember Perugia, Vibo, Verona, Milan and Ferrara. Places with great volleyball traditions: “Like Fano, moreover – specifies the man from Ravenna – I would also like to remember that in the past I played together with a man from Fano, Roberto Pietrelli, in the 2004-05 season with Carife Ferrara of A2. Aside from these historical references, I was pleasantly surprised by the welcome: I found a great staff, a well-structured company and people ready to work with commitment”.
The 202 cm center forward then focuses on next season: “The level has risen considerably – continues Mengozzi – there are 4/5 well-equipped teams and among these I also include my former team (Ravenna) which we will also face on the first day . In A2 the ball will be much faster, we will have to work hard to be ready to face any difficulty.”
The new central defender from Virtussino has already undergone the winning recipe: “Humility, in addition to work and commitment. I was pleased to see that the group will include young people from the nursery, this is a very positive thing.”
A particularly important 2024 for Virtus which, in addition to the promotion, can celebrate the 60th anniversary of its birth: “Exactly like this – says President Emidio Cennerilli – after the move to A2 thanks to a triumphal season, we are also celebrating the sixtieth years of the birth of the company. We are preparing to play a difficult and high-level championship, but we believe we have set up a competitive group with the right mix of experienced and young athletes. The kids must be aware that the club will be present in every aspect and will give maximum availability, we expect great commitment and dedication. It is clear that we aim to maintain the category.”
