Belluno Volley officially presents its new sporting director: Alessandro Carniel. He does so during a press conference, at the “De Gusto” restaurant-wine shop, in the presence of the company’s top management: from the president Sandro Da Rold to the deputies Andrea Gallina and Stefano Da Rold.
THE PROFILE – Born in 1976, married and father of two children (Aurora is 13 years old and a gymnast, while Federico, 7, is a novice footballer), Carniel has a green-and-white volleyball background in Motta di Livenza, where he expressed himself as an athlete (he acted in the role of central defender). And a manager, on a path ennobled by his arrival in A2: «Here I find a historic club – are his first words from the Dolomites – and a lively air, which I like. Furthermore, the people on the board have already conveyed to me competence, affection and the desire to do well. That’s why I had no hesitations in accepting this challenge.”
UNDER CONSTRUCTION – The new sporting director does not hide himself: «I consider myself an ambitious person, who likes to work a lot, on the pitch and together with the staff, with players who can grow». As for the staff, it is under construction: «The core will remain, there will be at least five or six confirmations. We can already reveal one of these and it concerns captain Fabio Bisi. Then, obviously, there will be no shortage of new faces, in various roles: it will be a mix of experienced and high-level athletes and young people who, we hope, will become high-level.”
PUBLIC – President Da Rold welcomes the sporting director with words full of confidence: «Carniel has the characteristics to help us take a further step. Let’s start again with new ambitions. And after a championship closed with a success well above expectations, in terms of audience and interest. In this regard, I would like to thank those who have accompanied us up to this point, such as the former general director Franco Da Re and the technician Gian Luca Colussi: they gave their all so that we could achieve these results. But, returning to the public, it becomes more and more demanding. And, consequently, we cannot afford to take steps backwards: so we wanted to add further professionalism to the environment to reach the top.” The top manager also focuses on the new technical guide: «Matteo De Cecco is now with the Slovenian national team, in a world-class context. We need the coach to bring his experience to an area like ours, which must move away from provincial logic and broaden horizons.”
