Spider-Man said yes. Davide Morgese renews his contract with Delta Group Porto Viro and will therefore still be the first libero of the nerofuchsia in the next sports season.
Born in 1996 (he will turn 28 in a few days), 172 centimeters tall, Morgese is now a veteran of Serie A2, which he has played continuously for ten years, from 2014 to today, totaling 290 appearances and putting together one Italian Cup and one promotion to the SuperLega, both obtained with the Reggio Emilia shirt in 2021/2022. His receiving numbers are impressive, with a career average of 34.3% perfect.
In the past season, the first in Porto Viro, Montecchio Emilia’s acrobatic libero was one of the cornerstones of the game system created by coach Morato, who made solidity in reception and defensive intensity his trademark. This is why the renewal proposal was almost automatic.
“The club had wanted me to extend my contract for some time, together with the technical staff, they made me feel like a fundamental part of the project and for this reason I decided to accept. When you feel this trust around you it is almost natural to reciprocate it – comments Morgese – I know that I will be one of the ‘oldest’ of the group, I now have a few years of experience behind me and I hope to be able to be of help to my teammates, especially to the younger ones. I thank Delta who believed in me and who wanted me strongly, as always I will try to give everything on the pitch.”
For Morgese the great challenge of the next Serie A2 Credem Banca championship will be to manage operations in an almost completely renewed second line: “At the beginning we will probably struggle a little, as happens in every team, to oil the mechanisms it will be crucial I work in the gym. Responsibility is good, my role imposes it on me and it is right that it is like this, but everyone will have to do their part. We will certainly all do our best, then we will see what comes of it. Right from the start we will have to do a lot of technical work but also find ways to have fun, which is essential to making our time together enjoyable.”
