ShedirPharma Sorrento is a consolidated reality that focuses on the growth of young talents. Born in 2002, Mariano Gargiulo has earned his confirmation in a roster that wants to continue to amaze this year too. The spiker proved to be glacial even when entering the match in progress, using a float that literally throws the opposition’s receptions into crisis. In Casarano he made a lethal ace, and Mariano Gargiulo is a candidate to be the protagonist when Mr. Esposito leaves the margherita for place 4.

A confirmation that rewards your commitment and sacrifice. How much desire is there to return to work, to regain contact with the ball again, and show your qualities to the staff and teammates?

“In this period I’m keeping fit by playing beach volleyball, but obviously there is a lot of difference between sand and taraflex, with the latter representing the main feature of indoor. I look forward to returning to the gym, having fun, and playing the first games of the new season.”

Many important athletes in the same role as you. Pol and Cremoni have already been announced: young guys, permanently in the youth national team. How stimulating can it be to train with them, and steal some little secrets?

“Obviously the motivations are high. Pol has been playing in the higher category for many years in a row, while Cremoni is a permanent member of the national youth teams: he has already won the U17 European Championship, and is preparing for the U18 one scheduled for a few weeks. I will certainly have a lot to learn, and there will be healthy positive competition between us.”

An ace to Casarano, and always an extra weapon with your insidious float. How difficult is it to come in cold and know how to make an impact when the coach calls you into action?

“It’s important to be ready, and I always wait for a signal from the coach to be able to come on from the bench. I always work hard to be ready. Serving cold is not easy, but in Serie A3 the environment is fiery, and I warm up immediately feeling the passion of the public.”

What are your personal ambitions? How much desire is there to gain more minutes and space on the Taraflex?

“I play volleyball to have fun, and this aspect must never be missing. My goal is to give my best, demonstrating my value and taking advantage of the opportunities that will be given to me during the season. I don’t know the guys yet, but the CVs speak for all of them. The roster has quality, so I believe we can have a good medium-high ranking championship.”
