Following the fifth defeat in a row suffered at PalaSurace in Palmi, with ShedirPharma Sorrento catapulted into the play-out zone following only 2 points collected in the second round, the president Fabrizio Ruggiero called a press conference to analyze the moment and announce some decisions on what concerns the technical guidance.
“We are going through a difficult moment, and as in all critical situations, the first thing to do is put our face to it. In the summer we revolutionized the technical staff and roster, choosing the athletes in the workforce in synergy with the technical guide. And this is why I consider myself primarily responsible for this complicated period which sees us recovering from 5 defeats in a row.
At the moment the team is not expressing all the potential it has on the pitch: we haven’t changed anything after the first round, and it makes us think that the same team that had collected only 2 points from the halfway point onwards is the same team that had collected 19 points in the first part of the season.
In sport everything comes down to results: the absence of play, a progressive decline in performance, and the lack of points in the last 5 matches, pushed us with death in our hearts, to make the painful decision to sack coach Francesco Racaniello .
I think he worked a lot, demonstrating from day one that he lived for our colors and our shirt, spending his best and giving everything he had.
