The official closing of the Volley Mercato is still a few days away (Wednesday 17 July), but the Itas Trentino squad for the 2024/25 season is in fact already completed in its entirety. The negotiations of the summer session will deliver in August into the hands of coach Fabio Soli a team with some new faces (six out of a total of fourteen players) but which will also start from different certainties.
“The many confirmations compared to last season’s roster, as many as eight, are there to signify how valid this group is and deserves trust – explained the European Champion coach into the microphone of Trentino Volley TV -. The Club has often operated in this way in the past because, being a large Club, it has always had the foresight to choose well the hard core of players with which to carry out its projects. While the starting sextet will only be changed to one element, we have made a few more changes to the rest of the squad, but I am convinced that the additions made can guarantee us quality and physical freshness, taking into account that we are only talking about young athletes. Having four players in the Italian national team that will compete in the Olympics and already knowing the environment and the team better will only be an advantage for me, especially in the first months of the championship. We will certainly be more close-knit and will be able to start from a higher and more solid base.”
“We will start training much earlier than in the recent past – continued Soli -; we will be in the gym from the first of August and it was an inevitable choice given that the new season will start a month earlier than the previous one. In fact, on the weekend of 21 and 22 September we will already be playing in the Super Cup Final Four, which is why we will have to work hard immediately to bring those players who did not carry out activities with the national teams during the summer into condition. At the end of August we will also have the athletes returning from the Olympics with us and this will mean that there will be around three weeks of preparation to complete. A situation that really rarely happens in the world of volleyball and that we must exploit well.”
