After last Tuesday’s exploit in Modica, the return match in the Marche region for Smartsystem hosts Avimecc Modica in game 2 of the round of 16 of the play offs (Sunday 7 April Palas Allende at 7pm).
They are starting from 3 to 1 in game 1 and this is already an excellent starting point, so it will be enough to win a couple of sets to qualify for the quarter-finals. But beware of letting your guard down, as director Pier Paolo Partenio points out: “It’s absolutely not over – comments the Macerata native – they will give their all to put us in difficulty, despite the injury to the setter Putini. We will have to be focused and determined, we are waiting for our large audience to come and cheer us on.”
The relapse of Putini, who was already in doubt on the eve of the first leg match, could complicate things for coach Di Stefano but Modica will try to trip up the Virtussini despite starting from a significant disadvantage. Spagnol will try to drag his team along, together with the talented Raso and Capelli, while on this side coach Mastrangelo will be able to rely on additional resources thanks to the winning additions of Pik Margutti and Pietro Galdenzi: “We will have to avoid errors in the serve and attack of game 1 – Partenio continues – but only in this way can we facilitate our wall as well as our defense”.
We remind you that the winner between Fano and Modica will face the winner in the match between Savigliano and Motta di Livenza.
