In the unprecedented final at Palazzo Wanny in Florence, Sir Susa Vim Perugia beat Itas Trentino and won the 29th Del Monte® Supercoppa, the third in a row after Cagliari and Biella, the sixth for the club of president Gino Sirci, who thus restarts the season as he ended the last one, that is, with a success. Gabi Garcia’s 24 points and 18 point blocks were not enough for Trento to undermine the strength of the Perugians, who had in Ishikawa, awarded Del Monte® MVP of the Final by Massimo Righi, President of the Volleyball League, a fundamental factor for the comeback.
The fans from Umbria and Trentino packed the Tuscan sports hall (3800 spectators and sold out) and followed the stages of a match with participation which proved to be a real spectacle for volleyball lovers.
Before the start of the warm-up, the audience that was already filling the stands of the Florentine venue was delighted by the performance of the Bandits, a breakdance crew, Italian breakdance champions.
Also present today at Palazzo Wanny were the members of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, the new charity partner of the Serie A Volleyball League, a foundation whose mission is to guarantee a concrete commitment for the new generations with a program aimed at young people between 16 and 25 years for personal growth and the valorization of talents.
After Mameli’s anthem at the starting whistle by Dominga Lot, assisted by Andrea Pozzato (third referee Giardini, with Alessandro Cerra at the video check), the sextets on the pitch were the predictable ones, given that Fabio Soli did not recover Kamil Rychlicki and Gabi Garcia lined up diagonally with Sbertoli, Michieletto and Lavia in place four, Kozamernik and the former Flavio in the center and Laurenzano libero; on the other side of the net Angelo Lorenzetti chose Ishikawa and Semeniuk in place four, Giannelli as director with Ben Tara opposite, Russo and Loser in the center and Colaci libero.
