In his first official outing after his appointment and two weeks before the start of the Super League season, he has already felt the thrill of lifting a trophy, on an international and highly prestigious stage like the Hala Globus in Lublin: Simone Giannelli is the new captain of Sir Susa Vim Perugia!
He arrived at the Juventus home in the 2021-2022 season and after three years which – as he himself declared – “literally flew by”, the expert setter renewed with president Gino Sirci’s club by signing another three-year contract that ties him to the club until to 2027.
The prestigious trophy won on Polish soil adds to the already important spoils won in three seasons by the director in the Sir Susa Vim Perugia shirt: two Super Cups, two Italian Cups, two Club World Cups and a Scudetto.
«It’s a great responsibility, I’m happy, it’s an important and complicated role. I will try to do my best as captain to try to help my team and everyone as much as possible; we begin and I am grateful and proud. Now we need to put all the energy we have into the field!”
Giannelli highlights the objective of these international tournaments which are important tests to test oneself by playing against strong teams from another championship.
«We played two good games against two tough opponents, in Poland the level is very high so I’m happy with how we played, I’m happy that things to improve came out so we’re going home with some more guidance to get to work».
