Nicola Salsi, from Reggio Emilia by birth, from Modena sportingly speaking and now from Piacenza by adoption. The setter born in 1997 arrived at Andrea Anastasi’s court a few weeks ago for his first season with the Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza shirt after a year spent in Austria where he won the Austrian championship and Super Cup with Hypo Tirol Innsbruck.
The calendar of the next SuperLega Credem Banca championship immediately reserved a joke for him: the first team that Antoine Brizard’s assistant will face in the regular season is Modena, which is the last team that saw him as a protagonist in the Italian championship before the adventure Austrian.
“Of course it really seems like a twist of fate – underlines Nicola Salsi – because debuting in the league with Modena where I grew up playing volleyball will make me experience a very special feeling. It’s the first time I’ve faced Modena as an opponent, luckily my debut will be in Piacenza.”
