After a memorable final rush of the SuperLega Credem Banca as head coach of Cucine Lube Civitanova, with triumph in the 5th Place Play Offs thanks to a string of four consecutive victories, including three away victories, Romano Giannini returns to take on the role of second coach with the usual enthusiasm that is now a trademark and which accompanied him in his three seasons at Lube (a Scudetto in 2022 and a Italian Final lost in Game 5 in 2023). The protagonist at the end of the championship will be a valid support for Giampaolo Medei, who tomorrow, Wednesday 8 May (6 pm) will be presented to the press and fans in the conference room of the Hotel Cosmopolitan in Civitanova Marche.
Romano Giannini (assistant coach): “For a coach from the Marche it is a great satisfaction to work on the staff of Lube, the top club in Italian volleyball. When they asked me to end the season at the reins of the team, I put myself at the service of the team with great commitment to achieve the objective in the knowledge that at the end of this period a coach would arrive for the next competitive year and I would return to play my job. My 20 years as a head coach in other categories helped me meet the challenge. We got the pass to Europe. Lube is used to the Champions League and feels at home in that competition, but next season the Challenge Cup will guarantee more games and will be a good start for a team full of young people and with Balaso as the only veteran of the group that has won everything. I know Giampaolo Medei well, but we have never worked together, he will bring the enthusiasm that distinguishes him and will pass on to all of us the wealth of experience resulting from foreign championships and the victories achieved in recent years. I take this opportunity to thank the club for their trust and the fans for the affection shown on several occasions.”
