Volley Savigliano is pleased to welcome Riccardo Gatto, the second addition to the 2024/25 first team roster and the final piece as regards the opposite role.
From Legnago, Riccardo was born on 13 March 2003 and will therefore be the second youngest player on the roster coached by Michele Bulleri, being just six months more “experienced” than central defender Ambrogio Quaranta. The Veronese grew up playing volleyball in Kioene Padova, showing off, from a young age, for his great flexibility, which led him to also cover the roles of central defender and spiker in the past. With Padova he made his debut in Serie B, before the big leap to Brescia, with whom he made his debut in Serie A2 in 2022/23, scoring his first 29 points. Last season he moved to Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce, again in A2, where he found more space with 50 goals in total and where, above all, he met coach Bulleri for the first time, who strongly wanted him in his new adventure in Savigliano.
“The trust that was immediately given to me by offering me the role of first opposite pushed me to choose Savigliano. Having spent two years on the bench in the top division, I think the time has come to show my qualities on the pitch. From this year I expect growth especially in the consistency of the race pace. Certainly, the fact that I know the coach also pushed me, with whom I get along very well both in matches and during training. I know that Savigliano focuses a lot on the opposing department and I think I have the right characteristics to best fill the role, obviously the heavy arm is not lacking. I know that I will bond immediately with the team since we are all almost the same age. I expect a fun season” – his first words.
