The lights of the Banca Macerata Forum are turned back on for an event not reserved for the faint of heart. It can be written like this because the level that will be seen on Sunday, at least in some sections, can and must be higher than what the championship average requires. The third first leg of the Serie A2 men’s championship will see, again on Sunday at 6pm, our boys from Banca Macerata Fisiomed clash against the Cosedil battleship Acicastello.
Acicastello, at 5 points in the standings, has achieved two victories in the first two of the championship against Palmi and Brescia and this does nothing but strengthen the clear ambition of the Sicilians in aiming for the maximum objective. From Saitta to Manavinezhad, from Sabbi to Argenta, they are all “luxury” names (with multiple experiences in higher categories) who contribute to forming a complete and absolutely respectable roster that could initially scare anyone.
But, in reality, after all we know: respect for everyone, fear of no one. The boys, still with regret in their hearts for the wonderful opportunity not exploited in Fano, are working hard in the gym to be ready for this big match. Many volleyball skills will certainly be needed, but character and tenacity could also play a fundamental role: the results will not be written until the last ball falls.
