The Apulian coach arrived on the Cantù bench at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season and, after a limping start, led the club to many “firsts” in its history: Semi-final of the DelMonte® Italian Cup, second place at the end of the Regular Season, and first participation in the DelMonte® Super Cup, as well as reaching the Promotion Play Off Semifinal. In the championship just concluded, the ninth place finish and the path in the DelMonte® Italian Cup are worth mentioning: they eliminated Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce in two matches in the Round of 16, and lost the two matches against the newly promoted SuperLega Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina in the Quarterfinals.
“Francesco Denora arrived two years ago after the unfortunately not very positive experience of Mondovì – says President Ambrogio Molteni -. In the previous season we were saved on the last day, but with him we built a group with very motivated boys, who last season achieved results never seen before (Seconds in the Regular Season, Promotion Play Off Semifinal, DelMonte® Coppa Italia Semifinal, DelMonte® Super Cup against Tuna Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia). The one just concluded was characterized by several ups and downs, despite reaching a ninth place with a stay in Serie A2 Credem Banca secured with four matchdays to spare, and victory in the first preliminary round of the DelMonte® Coppa Italia against Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce. We must be grateful to him for the great professionalism he has demonstrated and his constant commitment to the growth of the group, and we wish him the best for the continuation of his career and for the new challenges that await him.”
“We are at the end of a journey that began exactly 2 years ago with me and many of this group – says Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso -. Two years so intense that they seem like one. Full of satisfactions and with some disappointments, which however never discouraged us. We have led Cantù to receive the respect of its opponents and to be feared on every pitch, and it is the best victory. It would have been nice to continue the cycle, but sport is made up of transitions: coaches and players go, the club stays, and rightly so.
