The Italian national men’s volleyball team will reach Paris today where they will compete at the Olympics. Three players from Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza will wear the blue and will be protagonists in Paris 2024 from 27 July: Yuri Romanò, Alessandro Bovolenta and Gianluca Galassi.

After the week of work between Florence and Bologna which ended with the double test match played against Argentina, the men’s national team trained on Monday at the CPO Giulio Onesti and this morning left from Fiumicino Airport with a flight to reach Paris.

These are those called up:

Setters: Simone Giannelli, Riccardo Sbertoli

Spikers: Alessandro Michieletto, Daniele Lavia, Luca Porro, Mattia Bottolo

Centrals: Gianluca Galassi, Roberto Russo, Giovanni Sanguinetti

Opposites: Yuri Romanò, Alessandro Bovolenta.

Liberi: Fabio Balaso, Gabriele Laurenzano.

The staff is made up of the coach Ferdinando De Giorgi, the assistant coach Massimo Caponeri, the athletic trainer Nicola Giolito, the accompanying manager Vittorio Sacripanti, the pedagogist Giuliano Bergamaschi, the team manager Giacomo Giretto, the doctor Piero Benelli, the physiotherapists Sebastiano Cencini and Francesco Alfatti , by scoutman Ivan Contrario.

The Azzurri, included in group B together with Poland, Brazil and Egypt, will make their debut at the Olympics on 27 July against Brazil (of the former red and white Lucarelli and Leal) and then face Egypt on 30 July and finally Poland on 3 August.

Three other red and whites will be involved in the Paris Olympics: Antoine Brizard will wear the shirt of France, Uros Kovacevic that of the Serbian national team and Stephen Maar that of the Canadian national team.

France, Serbia and Canada together with Slovenia are included in group A. And immediately on July 28th Brizard’s France will face Kovacevic’s Serbia while Maar’s Canada will face Slovenia. Serbia will be back on the field on July 30th to face Slovenia while Brizard’s France will face Maar’s Canada. On August 2nd there will be a match between France and Slovenia and the following day, August 3rd, Maar’s Canada and Kovacevic’s Serbia will face each other.
