Fighter, leader, leader. In a word, Captain, or rather: the youngest Captain in the Super League. Here is Rok Mozic, who today, with the president Stefano Fanini and the entire Club, announces the extension of the contract with Verona Volley until 2027. An agreement that puts the Slovenian spiker increasingly at the center of Rana Verona’s project, which from the beginning last season, at just 21 years old, he was given the captaincy and represents one of the cornerstones of Coach Stoytchev’s sextet on and off the pitch.

In three years the number 19 has grown exponentially in the Scaliger shirt and it took him little to receive the affection of the city, the environment and the fans.

Arriving in Verona while still a teenager and becoming a man with the Scala colors sewn on him, Mozic soon established himself as one of the best players in the Super League: 1369 points in all competitions, 1172 winning attacks, 121 point blocks, 76 aces, 10 nominations as MVP are just some numbers from 2021 to today that testify to the value of the hammer born in 2002, who at the end of his debut year in Italy had received the Kuznetsov award as top scorer of the tournament.

“For me Verona Volley means home – declared captain Mozic – I arrived here at a very young age and found the ideal environment to grow and mature as a person and as an athlete. The club has always shown great trust in me, like when I was given the captaincy after an idol and a great friend like Rapha, and at all times since I have been in Italy. I am very happy to remain in Verona for many more years: for me it is an honor to wear this shirt, with which I want to get great satisfaction. Thanks to everyone: let’s move forward together!”.

“Rok has been an essential part of Verona Volley since our first 2021/2022 season, also as an image, and the extension of the contract already in place is a tangible demonstration of this as well as the mutual trust in growing together”. These are the words of Stefano Fanini, President of the Club, who continued: “We welcomed him as a nineteen-year-old, in his first experience outside his country and in an important championship like the Italian Super League and only one season was enough for him to demonstrate to the environment and to the fans, talent and determination. In these first three years he has been able to represent the spirit of the club and stand out as a serious, charismatic player, capable of leading the team despite his young age. The progress he has made is notable and his margin for technical growth and experience is still very wide.
