Moussé Gueye, a twenty-seven-year-old Senegalese middle blocker with French sporting nationality, will wear the Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza shirt next season. The agreement with the central defender was reached in recent weeks and with the arrival of Gueye the central department available to coach Andrea Anastasi closes: Robertlandy Simon, Gianluca Galassi, Fabio Ricci and Moussé Gueye are the three positions available to the coach for next season.
Born in 1996, 198 centimeters tall, Moussé Gueye is making his debut in the Italian championship and last season he played in Poland with the Ukrainian team Barkom Kazany Lwow with which he scored 221 points in 25 games.
Gueye’s sporting career took place entirely in France except last season which saw him leave the French borders for the first time. A couple of championships in the French B series and then wearing, among others, the shirts of Narbonne Volley, Chaumont Volleyball with which he won the French Cup and the French Super Cup and finally Nantes Rezé Metroplole Volley, the last transalpine team in which he played.
He is part of the senior national team led by Italian Andrea Giani who included him in the long list of the 30 Blues called up before the VNL and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“I am happy – these are Moussé Gueye’s first words as a red and white – to be able to be part of the Piacenza team next season, for me it is an excellent opportunity to play in one of the most beautiful and difficult championships in the world. For my professional growth it is a great opportunity that I will try to make the most of. I am sure that with coach Andrea Anastasi and his staff I will be able to work well and grow a lot also thanks to the teammates with whom I will train and play. I can’t wait to start this new adventure, get to know the team, the staff and the atmosphere of PalabancaSport which I am told is very nice during the matches. I thank everyone who made sure to give me this opportunity.”
“He is a player – underlined sporting director Ninni De Nicolo – who we have been following for some time, there was the opportunity to bring him to Piacenza and we didn’t miss it. In the last season played in Poland he grew a lot, he is the right player to complete our central defenders department. He will have the opportunity to grow further alongside important players in his role and at the same time will allow him to work with great intensity on a daily basis.”
