Mint Vero Volley Monza categorically wins the first leg of the CEV Challenge Cup Semi-final. The first men’s team of the Vero Volley Consortium won easily, beating 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-16) the Galatasaray HDI Istanbul, within the friendly walls of the Opiquad Arena. A masterful show of strength from the Monza team, who confirm the excellent form shown in the Del Monte® Coppa Italia, once again offering an excellent team performance and emphasizing the ability of a very solid group who had to give up due to injury Takahashi and Comparoni. For this match the starting sextet was made up of Kreling as director and Szwarc as opposite, Maar-Loeppky as a pair of spikers, Galassi-Di Martino as central defenders with Gaggini as libero. MVP of the match Stephen Maar with 16 balls on the ground, followed by Szwarc and Loeppky with 12 and 11 points scored.
However, there will be no time to rest for Mint Vero Volley Monza who will immediately return to the pitch on Saturday 3 February at 8.00 pm for the SuperLega Credem Banca championship, facing Itas Trentino again at the Opiquad Arena. The return leg of the Semifinal, however, is set for Tuesday 6 February in Istanbul, at 6.00 pm Italian time.
