Strengthened by the success in the first match in the CEV Champions League against Olympiacos Piraeus, MINT Vero Volley Monza already has the next European match in its sights. Wednesday 20 November at 5pm (live DAZN and Sky Sport), the Brianza players will be at the home of Fenerbahçe Medicana Istanbul for the second first leg of Pool B.

The two teams have never met before, while the Consortium’s women’s team, Numia Vero Volley Milano, challenged Fenerbahçe in the Champions League semi-finals last year. Only one ex of this challenge: the Bulgarian Denis Karyagin who today is among the Turkish ranks, but who in 2022 won the CEV Cup in Tours with the colors of Monza.

In their debut, Beretta and his teammates did well against the Greeks Olympiacos Pireaus, winning the tie-break after more than two hours of play. The Turks, however, resolved the issue with the Germans Helios Grizzlys Giesen in just three sets.

THE OPPONENTS
Fenerbahçe have not won the Turkish championship since 2019, but have maintained a constant presence in the Champions League. Last year, Fenerbahçe reached the semi-final of the CEV Cup, while nationally they finished second, defeated by Halkbank Ankara in the play-off final.
