It would have taken almost a feat for Allianz Milano to overturn the result of the first leg against the strong Polish team and go to the Golden Set. However, two hard-fought partial matches were enough for the Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie team to advance to the quarter-finals of the CEV Cup Final. The 9 blocks (10 in three sets) scored by captain Piano and his teammates were not enough, transforming the opposite Butryn into a “normal” player, or rather even a little less so, given his 33% in attack with 7 points in the two sets played. The receiving percentages were too low, 39% with 11% of perfect balls and 4 aces conceded, against Warta who always had Tavares with the ball on his head to also trigger the central players and the excellent Kwolek.
