Michael Czerwinski has renewed with Cisterna Volley. The opposite Austrian born in 2003, 206 cm tall, will play his second year in the Super League with the Pontini, after his debut last season, behind the Frenchman Theo Faure. After making his debut in the Challenge Cup in the 22/23 season among the ranks of VCA Amstetten in Austria, Czerwinski closed his first year in Italy on a high, carving out a leading role in the 5th Place Play Offs.
The native of Vienna has been in the orbit of the national team since 2019, earning his first call-ups with the senior group in 2023, while in 2024 at the European Silver League, with his Austria he finished in second place, winning silver behind only to the Israeli team. In the competition now in its sixth edition, he also obtained the award as best scorer of the tournament, with 186 points scored.
“For me it was easy to choose to continue my sporting journey with Cisterna Volley – says Czerwinski, capable of spiking at 350 cm height – I couldn’t have chosen better for my career, because here I can learn in a prestigious championship like the Super League. The goal for next year will be to improve more and more, through daily work in the gym. Whether it’s to serve or to rest Faure at a moment in the match, I will try to do everything I can to help the team.” The feeling with the Pontine city also contributed to the choice of the young Austrian: “Cisterna has welcomed me since my first days here – the opposite ends – I’m trying to improve my Italian, but they contributed to facilitating my adjustment to Italy all the people who appeared in my daily life here in Italy, helping me even in small things, immediately putting me at ease.”
