Fifth participation for Lube in the Club World Cup (three silvers and one gold), Paolo Medei’s third personal appearance as red and white coach (two silvers). The coach originally from Treia introduces the tournament after the exhausting trip that brought the Marche team to Brazil.
Will the after-effects of the long process to get to Uberlandia be felt?
Giampaolo Medei: “The journey was not a walk in the park! We have been on the move for 24 consecutive hours. The first theme will be to recover energy and acclimate to the climate to be ready to take the field and play high-level volleyball. The Iranian team Foolad, the first opponent in chronological order, has more or less followed a similar path to ours, so the conditions will be the same.
What are the stimuli and expectations for your third personal participation in this event?
“We have too many stimuli. This is a prestigious tournament and an important stage for the growth of the group. We are driven to give our best. The formula is complex because we are called to play five matches in a week, I say this because we want to get through the group and play all five matches on the calendar. We are here chasing medals. The experience is new for this group, but I am sure the players will be ready. We will honor the commitment and the shirt we wear. We want to get to the end! These are the objectives.”
In Pool A have you identified a more treacherous team than the others?
“We respect all opponents. On paper the Iranian and Brazilian teams could create more problems.
