Sieco Service Impavida Ortona confirms the young talent Matteo di Giulio. If last year Di Giulio was used as a spiker, his skills in receiving and defending did not go unnoticed, so much so that he was guaranteed confirmation, but in a different role. Matteo will in fact be used as a libero alongside Broccatelli.
Technical data sheet to be updated, therefore for Matteo Di Giulio, 180 centimeters tall, born in Chieti on 12 December 2006.
A Home-Grown Talent
Matteo Di Giulio reached the first team last season after being taken directly from Sieco’s youth sector. His volleyball history is closely linked to Paglieta, the team from his hometown. In fact, it was with Virtus Paglieta that Matteo began playing volleyball at the age of seven. With this team, he made his debut at a very young age in the 2019/2020 season in a National Serie B championship.
First Experiences with Sieco
In the 2020/2021 season, Matteo wears the Impavida shirt for the first time, playing in Sieco’s Under 15 team. This experience proved prolific, with Sieco winning the regional championship and reaching tenth place nationally. Fortified by this success, Matteo returns to play with Virtus Paglieta in the 2021/2022 season, still in Serie B.
Return to Sieco and Constant Growth
The paths of Matteo and Sieco cross again in the 2022/2023 season, with Di Giulio involved in the Ortona youth sector and in Serie C. Despite his experiences in national championships, reaching Serie A2 represents a significant achievement for the young athlete. The use of Matteo Di Giulio is constant with Coach Lanci who strategically throws him into the fray to exploit his insidious serve and his already well-known defensive abilities.
The experiment can be considered successful and so Matteo Di Giulio will still be in the Impavido Roster but with the new role of Libero.
