Imagine a Saturday morning at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Grottazzolina, before the return match of the Italian Cup quarter-finals. You expect to find the full-ranked Yuasa Battery dealing with a balloon shooter. What you don’t expect, however, is that she does it in the presence of over fifty entrepreneurs and managers of the area, accompanied in her movements by an exceptional guest, Andrea Zorzi, in dialogue with the coach Massimiliano Ortenzi, under the watchful eyes by Gabriele Gabrielli, entrepreneur, coach, consultant and professor of human resources management at Luiss. An experiment, a gamble, a masterclass with feet on the taraflex, eyes on the players, ears and head on the words of two exceptional speakers. This is the framework in which “Position and role – Training in the management of conflict zones” was staged, in which for the second time the M&G Scuola Pallavolo company was able to benefit from the experiences, skills and synergy between the two-time world champion Andrea Zorzi and the business consultant and university professor Gabriele Gabrielli, who accompanied those present on a two-stage journey. First an immersion in the field and in the dynamics, the balance, the game situations of a volleyball team and its players, fresh from a historic promotion to the Super League but no less willing to get involved in this situation too. Then, listening to Gabrielli’s speech, between stories and reflections, questions and suggestions that have drawn on the decades of experience of those who in their CV can boast the role of human resources manager of large groups (Telecom, Coin, Wind, Enel, Trenitalia ). Finally, a long, lively and fruitful moment of dialogue and discussion.
There are two focuses: what sporting dynamics tells us about the conflict of positions within an organization and the conflict of roles and responsibilities; how companies face and manage the difficult balance between order and freedom, defined positions and roles to be written in relation to the great changes in our society.
