For a club that aims to do important things in Serie A3, it is of fundamental importance to make use of a professional capable of observing full time the physical and athletic condition of every single player under the orders of Mister Nicola Esposito. An important element joins the staff, which is a good example of a “consortium” that works: that of Polsport Sorrento. Thanks to the collaboration with Basket Sorrento, we were able to appreciate the talent of an athletic trainer, who from this year will also follow our Serie A: Matteo Cinque.
How did the opportunity to work for Folgore come about, and how stimulating is it to train Serie A athletes?
“The opportunity to work with Folgore arose this summer: I came into contact with president Ruggiero and coach Nicola Esposito through some mutual acquaintances, including the physiotherapist Luca Giglio with whom I had already collaborated in the past. It will be truly stimulating to work with professional and high-level athletes. Having the chance to learn from these guys and become part of their professional journey is something that makes me proud and very excited”.
Let’s start with the first steps of your career. How did your passion for this job begin, and what was your educational background?
“My sporting journey began when I was little, because I always loved playing sports. Over the years this passion has resulted in my studies, leading me to first obtain a three-year degree in motor sciences, and then begin the master’s degree in which I now find myself engaged. At the same time I obtained several certifications in athletic training (mostly from American schools) which greatly influenced my vision of training, pushing me to visit various facilities overseas in recent months. In the last year I have followed the athletes of the youth sector and the first team of Sorrento Basket, thanks to which I have had the opportunity to broaden my professional and knowledge base. At the same time, I train athletes in various sports within the structure that saw my professional birth, Ulysse, whose director was the first to give me the opportunity to work, approaching this fantastic sector”.
