Luca Martinelli will be Cottarelli’s deputy at Pool Libertas Cantù for the 2024/2025 season. Born in 1998, also at his first experience in Serie A2 Credem Banca, he comes from a more than positive year in Serie A3 Credem Banca played with the Gabbiano Mantova shirt. Diagonal with Marco Novello, they were among the revelations of the third national category, leading their team to first place at the end of the Regular Season, to the Final of the DelMonte® Supercoppa Serie A3, and to the Promotion Final.

Coach Alessandro Mattiroli comments on the new entry: “Luca is a player I know well, given that we were opponents for many years in Serie B, and against his former team we also achieved promotion to Serie A3 with Yaka Volley. I know what he’s worth: he’s a setter with excellent qualities, and in my opinion he had nothing to do with Serie B, and so I wanted him right away.”

These, however, are the player’s words: “I accepted Cantù’s proposal because last year with Mantua was a bit unexpected. Even though it was my first year in Serie A, I played the entire championship, and we got to participate in the final stages of all the competitions. So I wanted to try to ‘ride the wave’ and climb the categories. I spoke with Alessandro (Coach Mattiroli, ed.), who so far I have only met as an opponent, and I decided to throw myself into this new adventure, to try to see what my margins for growth still are. I don’t know the championship in depth, and I don’t have particular expectations about it. On a personal level my goal is to grow on a technical level, an aspect that in recent years I have not been able to develop in a particular way, in such a way as to grow and try to reach my limit. I can’t wait to get started!”.
