In the first half Mirandola started aggressively and moved within 4 points to 1, demonstrating on the court a desire to win not dissimilar to that of the first half against Acqui Terme. A couple of yellow-blue errors give Brugherio the chance to shorten, and it’s up to Quartarone to interrupt the opponent’s break with a second-intention ball. Stadium manages at the start and never lets its lead fall below two points but instead continues to push against a team that, at the moment, appears to be in difficulty. After a point off the dribble and an ace by Riccardo Rustichelli on libero Marini, Coach Delmati uses the first timeout of the match. The break certainly comes to the aid of the locals who manage to start playing again, without however ever curbing the game of Mirandola, who thanks to an excellent ensemble game remains in the lead during the approach to the twentieth length (11-17). Stadium settles slightly in conclusion, and gets 3 points back, forcing Mescoli to time out. Rossatti puts his foot in the door, scoring the eighteenth, followed by the nineteenth which came thanks to an error by captain Meschiari. At Delmati’s second break, the scoreboard read 16-23, thanks to the service of a Capua in splendid form who took over the captain’s place. In fact, thanks to an ace from Mirandola’s spiker with a ball marked out by the referee but overturned during the video check by a providential Mescoli, the conclusion of the first set was 16-25.
Stadium starts again immediately on serve and moves forward, almost instantly signing a positive break for 1-3 and forcing Delmati to take a first timeout. The rosanero responded with a present and interrupted the Mirandola break phase, but were unable to repel a Stadium in full competitive trance, which grinded out point after point until the score was 3-8. Brugherio does not move away from 5 points even in the approach to double figures, when the yellow-blues finally manage to distance themselves to create an excellent buffer of 7 points (8-14). Management of the lead for Mirandola while the Devils take refuge in the second break at 12-20 to turn it around. Quartarone continues to serve Albergati given his excellent condition while the block also continues to give great satisfaction to the Emilians who reach +10 for 13-23. Meschiari goes to serve and puts an ace in his pocket. Mescoli, with both timeouts still available, takes advantage of one. Rustichelli scores and leaves ten set points available to his teammates. Prespov’s wrong attack ends the partial 14-25 and Mirandola finally returns to bring home a point in the standings, while opening the hunt for the next two.
