For CUS Cagliari Volley it is time to turn the page and enter the next Serie A3 Credem Banca championship.
With the start of the 2024/2025 sports season, the island club is pleased to present Lorenzo Simeon as the new Head Coach of the first team.
The new coach of the rossoblù can boast a long career as a player and is preparing to begin his sixth consecutive year at the helm of a Serie A3 team.
Before his partnership with CUS Cagliari, in fact, Simeon led ViViBanca Parella Torino from 2019 to 2022 and in the last two seasons Monge Gerbaudo Savigliano, winning fourth place and the Final Four of the Italian Cup in both seasons.
We asked the new coach for a few words of introduction.
Tell yourself quickly: what is your experience in volleyball?
I have been playing volleyball all my life: I played for many years and stopped playing late, at 41, but immediately after I started coaching.
For the first two years I coached a Serie B in Turin, and then immediately began my journey in Serie A3 which continues today here at CUS Cagliari with a lot of enthusiasm.
Do you already know the reality of CUS Cagliari? What were the first impressions?
I started playing at CUS Torino so I know very well the values that are transmitted in University Sports Centres.
From what I have seen in these first days I must say that the reality of CUS Cagliari seems very strong and rooted in the whole environment, with a very beautiful sports center and equipped facilities in which all sports coexist perfectly.
Definitely an environment in which it will be easy and pleasant to work.
Last season you played against CUS Cagliari, what were your impressions from the outside?
I already knew the reality of Cagliari since I was still a player, I had challenged the team that was then playing in the national championships.
Personally I can’t wait to start this project, I believe that this is an organized company, with potential and with a great desire to do well, all important reasons that convinced me to accept the company’s offer.
